An original carved timber fragment, preserved and elevated on a minimal black steel plinth.
Rather than restoring the element into furniture, it has been reframed as an object in its own right. The historic carving retains its depth and tonal variation, while the contemporary steel base provides structural clarity.
The contrast between organic hand-carved timber and clean architectural metal is intentional — a dialogue between past craft and present form. Ideal for a study, open shelving, or a quiet corner of the kitchen.
1. Bird on Branch - A single bird appears at the centre, perched among intersecting branches and leaves. Below, the lower section resolves into two scroll-like supports — symmetrical in feel, but softened by hand-carved variation.
2. Framed Blossom - Carved within a rectangular frame, this relief panel presents a denser floral composition, with blossoms and interwoven stems filling the interior space.
Please note subtle wear to the lacquer surface and minor irregularities are part of its history and should be appreciated as such.
