Lampshade
A structured box-pleated lampshade, carefully shaped with crisp vertical folds that give the shade a sculptural and architectural presence. Unlike softly gathered shades, the box pleats create clean lines and a sense of quiet order, allowing the woven pattern of the fabric to appear in alternating panels as the light moves across the surface.
When illuminated, the silk brocade softly reflects the light, revealing the complexity of the weave and allowing the colours to shift gently between warm and cool tones.
This lampshade is named after Cawsand in Cornwall, a quiet seaside village once known for its smuggler tales. Inspired by the hidden coves and adventurous spirit of its coastal history.
All lampshades are handmade in England.

Fabrics
The fabric used for this lampshade is Shu brocade — a historic silk textile traditionally produced in the Sichuan region of China.
Shu brocade is known for its dense weaving structure and complex patterns created directly within the loom rather than printed onto the surface. For centuries it was valued for decorative garments, ceremonial textiles and interior furnishings.
The design of this particular textile features ornamental medallions linked by scrolling vines, a pattern language commonly seen in classical brocade weaving. Within the circular compositions, stylised leaves, flowers and small animals appear among the flowing lines, creating a balanced yet lively surface.
The rich colour palette — deep purple and soft golds — emerges from the layered silk threads within the weave, giving the fabric a subtle sheen that changes gently as the light moves across the surface.
