A reclaimed carved lacquer fragment, now re-presented on a clear acrylic plinth.
Originally part of a larger decorative structure, each panel carries the depth and warmth of traditional Chinese carving. Floral and figural motifs emerge through layers of red lacquer and gilded finish, now gently worn with age.
Rather than restoring the fragment to its former structure, it has been lifted and reframed — suspended within a contemporary acrylic form. The contrast is deliberate: historic craft set against modern clarity. Ideal for a study, open shelving, or a quiet corner of the kitchen.
Four different design, and each piece is sold individually.
1. Scalloped Vines - Defined by a gently scalloped lower edge and a raised, sculptural upper band, the panel balances fluid curvature below with structured, three-dimensional detail above, creating a clear interplay between ornament and form.
2. Arch Bloom - Framed within a softly arched outline, this panel carries a more architectural presence. Flowering forms rise upward from the base, echoing the curvature of the arch above.
3. Bird & Branch - The original timber element is rectangular in form, with a straight upper edge and a softly scalloped lower silhouette. The composition feels calm yet animated with the bird interrupts the linear branch, creating a quiet focal point at the centre.
4. Scalloped Blossom - rectangular in form. A dense arrangement of carved blossoms and interwoven foliage fills the space.
Please note subtle wear to the lacquer surface and minor irregularities are part of its history and should be appreciated as such.
The acrylic plinth is supplied with a removable protective film to prevent surface scratching in transit. This film can be gently peeled away upon receipt to reveal a clear, polished finish.
