Lin’an – Pleated Lampshade in Indigo Phoenix Silk Brocade
Description
Lampshade
This lampshade is made using a deep navy Song Brocade, woven with a traditional phoenix motif inspired by historical Chinese textile patterns.
The structured pleats give the shade a soft architectural form, allowing the pattern to appear and disappear as the light moves across the surface. A delicate braided trim with small pearl details finishes the top edge, adding a gentle contrast in texture.
This lampshade is named after Lin’an, the ancient capital of the Southern Song dynasty, known for its refined and understated aesthetic.
All lampshades are handmade in England.
The dimensions of the lampshade shown in the picture are: Medium - 16cm (Top D) x 20cm (Slope) x 25cm (Bottom D)
Fabrics
In ancient Chinese dress, the phoenix (翟鸟) was a symbol of grace, status and harmony, often seen on ceremonial garments. The repeating paired birds in this fabric echo that tradition - subtle, rhythmic, and quietly decorative.
