This vintage Chinese cabinet is crafted from solid wood and finished in a warm aged red lacquer, now softened through time. The surface shows natural wear and subtle colour variations that give the piece a rich patina developed over decades.
The two front doors feature hand-carved botanical panels, where delicate branches and flowering plants are carved directly into the wood, creating gentle depth and texture. Surrounding the doors, the outer frame is further decorated with carved floral motifs, adding rhythm and visual detail across the façade.
On both side panels, faint hand-painted birds and flowers remain visible. Though the colours have faded with age, the soft outlines of the birds give the cabinet its name — Whispering Birds — suggesting quiet traces of the decoration that once animated the piece.
Because the cabinet carries decoration on the front and both sides, it works beautifully when placed in an entryway or open space, where all three faces can be appreciated.
Inside, the cabinet opens to a simple interior with one internal shelf, offering practical storage while maintaining the clean proportions of the piece.
